Delicious denim….the discovery of Salsa Jeans

I wanted to share my little discovery with you, and it’s all about jeans. If you’re anything like me, it can sometimes be a struggle to find a nice pair of jeans, that both fit all parts of your body and make you look & feel great. I have tried many a jean that either fits my hips and bum, but gapes massively around my waist, or I can’t even fit over past the top of my thighs….frustrating!

So whilst on a recent shopping trip to House of Fraser, I discovered Salsa. They had a small range of styles from slim fit, boot cut and even a bum-lifting skinny. Yes, actually bum lifting!

I tried on a couple of different pairs and fell in love with their boot cut style. The quality and colour of the fabric is fabulous and they hug in all the right places, making a very flattering pair of jeans indeed.

All of their styles come in a 32″ leg, which may be a problem if your vertically challenged. But I’m an average 5’5″ and worn with a pair of heels, they’re absolutely fine. Just be aware if you wear a lot of flats!

They’re not the cheapest nor the most expensive range out there, I paid £95.00 for mine but there are some collections out there at £200 a pair!! But hey what would you pay for comfort and perfect fit?!

And they do some pretty hot advertising too 🙂

Lucky Shoes

When it comes to job interviews, they can be pretty nerve wracking. There’s so much you need to prepare, research, make sure you know where you’re going (don’t just rely on Sat Nav alone – I made that mistake and ended up being 10 minutes late, not a good first impression!!) and finally what you’re going to wear.

I’ve read a few different articles that advise you to wear smart things, a suit ideally. It’s always better to dress up then look like you haven’t made an effort. All pretty basic, common sense stuff. I also read somewhere once to add a little something to make you stand out, be remembered and not just another face in a black suit.

When I was searching for a new job last year, I decided to wear a simple black fitted dress, black tights and my new pair of leopard print kitten heel shoes. I looked professional, smart but with a hint of attitude.

Shoes

I kept my jewellery simple and my make-up soft. After all I didn’t want to scare them!

I think by having just one statement piece of clothing or jewellery you can emerge from the crowd, make a lasting impression and be the person who gets that dream job.

That particular interview went very well and I was offered the job. Unfortunately it didn’t quite work out, and I have since had around five or six interviews. For each one I have worn my trusty outfit, and each one has been a positive experience. So for me, it’s like having a lucky charm. It gives me an extra boost of confidence when needed most, and although I know the shoes don’t have any special powers, they’ve not failed me yet! (said whilst touching wood lol)

So, when you have something big and important coming up like an interview or performance or maybe even a sport, do you have a lucky item that you can’t leave the house without?

Step into spring

Now that we’ve waved goodbye to Christmas and New Year, it’s time to start looking forward to the turn of weather and arrival of spring. Yes I know I’m a little early, but I couldn’t help myself. Any excuse for an opportunity to shop for next season’s wardrobe and I’m there in a flash.

After taking a sneak peak at the proposed trends for SS13, I was pleased to see that pencil skirts are regarded as a staple piece of clothing. With Glamour magazine quoting “the pencil skirt is fashion gold”. I love this type of skirt as it’s great for women with curves who are proud to show them off. Any ladies out there with a large derriere can I get a “Amen”?!

It can be dressed up for a sexy vamp night out, or dressed down for a day at the office. They’re so versatile and scream “sexy sophistication” in my opinion you can’t go wrong. I tend to wear the length that falls just below my knees as I find it elongates my legs. Accessorize with a large waist belt to really make the most of your curves.

Another hot trend is stripes. This look will work well with either delicate pastels or bold jewel colours and perfect for any occasion. Whether you’re going on a date, to work or a nice holiday in the sun. And it lends itself to any item of clothing, although beware as there are a few rules for wearing stripes depending on your body shape. For advice on what shape you are and which clothes to go for or avoid, take a look at this feature from Channel 4.

One Skirt = Two Looks

It’s the time of year for work Christmas parties and sometimes you don’t always have the time to nip home and get changed, so I’ve found the perfect little skirt to transform your outfit from work desk to work party.

I am loving the leather look right now and came across this cute little skirt the other day. Mix it up with a few accessories, add a touch of sequins and you can sparkle and shine this festive season.

It’s a wrap…

Now, I’m not always one for following trends as I believe it’s important to wear what you love and look good in, not necessarily what is ‘on trend’. For this time of year, it’s all about wrapping up warm and looking fabulous so I’m keeping an eye out for a new coat in the pre-Christmas sales. I’m hopeful this year as with previous years, I’ve always managed to miss out on great bargains because I can never bring myself to join the hoards of shoppers in the January sales, it becomes a fight to the death with everyone looking out for themselves…crazy times!!

Anyway, I’m loving the range of coats out there but I want a bit of colour in my life and something that screams chic, feminine and glamour – as well as keeping me nice and cosy.

So I pulled a few styles together for my ideal winter collection and I’m going to try and sweet talk someone into buying one for me!! 😉

Love her style….VB

I don’t know about you but I absolutely love Victoria Beckham’s style. She mixes fabulous tailoring with little touches that create a very elegant and stylish look. I wish I could afford some of her items, but unfortunately I’m not rich 😦

I particularly like her slim fitted dresses and skirts as being an hour glass shape with a small waist and larger derrière, I often struggle to find nicely fitted pencil skirts.

Here’s a preview from her SS/13 collection….
