Spring Flowers

I was back at my flower course this week after missing a whole two weeks, and we were preparing a spring arrangement with a selection of beautiful yellow flowers.

We used our split pea vase from our very first class and cut down a piece of oasis to sit in the opening.

We started by placing seven roses into the oasis, one in the centre, one on each side and then one each on the diagonal. We then moved on to adding our foliage with two types of leaves.

DSC_0367Next we added little white drop flowers, they had quite soft stems so it was difficult to get them into the oasis without damaging or bending them. Next came these little yellow flowers that looked like pom-poms. They had a very strong and distinctive smell but were ever so pretty.DSC_0369We then had to fill out the arrangement and cover any gaps where you could see the oasis. There was no particular design to follow, we just had to make sure the centre rose was the highest point and the overall look was a “dome”.

DSC_0370I’m very pleased with how it turned out and it was really rather simple to make 🙂

I promise I’ll make an effort to jot down the names of the flowers for future posts!

And here it is, pride of place on my dining table.
